MORTGAGES & CONVEYANCES

The Recording Department is responsible for the filing of mortgage and conveyance documents pertaining to Webster parish. At the time the document is presented to the recording clerk it is immediately indexed, given a registry number and a book and page. This information is then printed on a separate recording page and permanently attached to the document . The index information is immediately available to be viewed by the public. A scanned image of the document will be available for viewing within 2-3 business days of recording.

Unlike other states, original documents sent for recording are not returned to the sender. You may obtain a certified copy of your document at the time of filing.

We can assist you in finding a document but the Clerk’s Office does not perform title searches. We will, however, be glad to instruct you on how to search our records and answer any questions you may have.


Mortgage Records: The mortgage index is organized by name of mortgagor (debtor). Documents are listed in alphabetical order and by year filed. These records contain Mortgages, Liens, Reinscriptions, Contracts, Assignments of Mortgages, Notary Bonds, Judgments, Acceptance of Contracts, Request for Notice of Seizure, Notices of Seizure, Corrections to Mortgages, No Work Affidavits, Dissolutions and Cancellations.

Conveyance Records: The conveyance index is organized by name of vendor (seller) and vendee (buyer). They are listed in alphabetical order and by year filed. These records contain real estate transactions such as Deeds, Exchanges, Partitions, Judgments of Possession, Land Leases, Oil Gas & Mineral Leases, Royalty Deeds, Right of Ways, Power of Attorneys, Donations and Immobilizations.
