You may obtain a certified copy of your birth certificate at our office
for a fee of $24.00 if you were born in the state of Louisiana. If you
were not born in Louisiana, you must contact the state where you were
born.
There are very strict identification requirements to obtain a birth
certificate. We request that you bring a current Louisiana driver's
license or a state issued picture identification card. You may only
obtain a birth certificate for yourself, an immediate relative, or a
child who you have an order of legal guardianship for.
If you were born before 1986, wait time for the state to upload your
certificate for printing will be between 15 minutes and 3 hours. More
recent certificates will be available within 15 minutes. Certificates
for newborns are generally not available until the child is 4-5 months
of age.
